Greetings Members, Colleagues, and Friends,

The Michigan Academy of Plastic Surgeons Executive Committee is proud to announce the 2024 MAPS Biennial Scientific Meeting at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, which will take place August 1-4, 2024. I’m hoping that you’ll consider joining us for this unique, regional Plastic Surgery meeting.

 

The meeting this year is from a new Thursday to Sunday format.  The Scientific Meeting is in the final stages of preparation, and will be accredited for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (total amount to be determined). In addition to guest speakers and updates from Plastic Surgery leadership, this program will feature several hours of Abstract Presentations, and that is where I need your help! Abstracts should be prepared according to the guidelines document, using the templates provided, and emailed to MAPSMeeting2024@gmail.com. The deadline for abstract submission is May 1, 2024. Note: there are PRIZES for the top papers presented by trainees (student/resident/fellow), so encourage your trainees to submit! In addition to Original Research abstracts, we are soliciting “TED-style Talk” abstracts – see guidelines for details!

 

Mackinac Island provides a great summer destination for families, and the meeting program is designed with this in mind. The Scientific Meeting occupies the morning of August 2-4, with afternoons free for swimming, biking, hiking, golfing, shopping, exploring, etc. Children and families are welcome and encouraged to attend the evening activities. In keeping with long-standing tradition, an active schedule of social events is also planned. On Thursday evening, August 1, we will have a Welcome Reception on the water, as in previous years. On Friday, August 2, we’ll have the traditional golf outing in the afternoon, followed by the cookout at historic Fort Mackinac later that evening. Our MAPS dinner banquet will be held at the Grand Hotel the evening of August 3, where golf and best paper awards will be presented. Our Guest Speaker at dinner will be Tania Sauceda, safety panel chair at NASA Johnson Space Center, who will tell us about human plans to return to the Moon and beyond—this is an inspiring talk you will not want to miss!
